Just Between Friends Expierence

Last Friday night my Mom and I headed over to JBF to check everything out. I had dresses and black boots on the brain for Charlie. When I shop, I usually do it ahead of time so that I can get the most bang for my buck! A consignment sale is an awesome place to also do this.

I first learned about this sale from a few of my Twitter/Blogger turned IRL friends Steph, Amy and Melinda. They had all found some awesome deals and raved about the sale.

We got there around 6:15 pm and was in and out within 45 minutes. It was great! I found 8 dresses, a puffer vest for Charlie and brown boots for Logan. My total out of pocket was $48.50!
Here is a break down of my deals:
BTWT Smocked Christmas dress $8 retails for $25
BNWT Puffer Vest $4 retails for $35
Black velvet dress with pink bows $3
Sweater dress Gymboree $8 retails $34.95
Christmas dress $4 retails $20
The Children's Place boots $5 retails for $24.95
Plaid Dress $4 retails $20
Crazy 8 dress $3.50 retails for $19.95
Dress $4 retails $20
Dress $3 retails $20

Everything was around 75-90% off! Fabulous! I will def be attending in April. I mean, how can you not with these prices? The clothes are all hung up by sizes, shoes laid out by sizes and there are toys for miles! They also have outside stuff, furniture and so much more.

Finishing what I started

I began at the company I work for almost 7 years ago. Within 6 months I was promoted. Another year later, I switched titles again. A lateral promotion if you will. Then I began to skill path towards the last level. Soon after I began that journey, I became pregnant with Logan. I knew that sleep would be a thing of the past and I stopped working towards my goal.

This was in early 2009. I knew that I would pick up where I left off someday. Someday turned into years, 4 to be exact! A lot of life events turned a simple year of working towards a goal into a seemingly forever process.

After becoming pregnant with Logan, my Dad was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 cancer. Soon after giving birth, my Dad passed away. A couple months later, we bought our first home. Within 5 weeks of moving into our home, I became pregnant with Charlotte. My work life was on hold until my personal life had a chance to slow down. Maybe slow down isn't the word I am looking for. I mean, really, what does slow down even mean? I have not slowed down in the last 5 years!

Fast forward to January 2013. After discussing with Gary, I decided it was time to start the path again. I am getting more sleep, although, I rarely every sleep through the night. My brain is functioning way better than it has been for the last several years. I took the leap and began my work. I took on more responsibility. I became more of a leader. And starting in October, I will be a senior technical specialist.

It has been a long time coming. Having children changes you. Changes your path. Changes things in the best way possible.

In the groove

We are SLOWLY settling into the groove of back to school and fall sports.

It has been almost a month. Dominic is still as hard to get up as ever. I swear, it is like waking the dead! He is enjoying school and has decided to try orchestra. In the spring he had said that he no longer liked playing the sax. It was not his thing. I understood but encouraged him to stay with it. He did not want to until his teacher told him that he was one of the best sax players! So, he decided to keep it up through the end of the year. After so much thought, he decided he was done with band and was not going to continue when he went into 6th grade.

Fast forward to the first week of school. We were very surprised when he decided to try the cello and join in the orchestra. We were reluctant of wanting him to join because of last school year. Plus he had decided to play basketball and lacrosse. I did not want him to get overwhelmed with activities. BUT we allowed him to sign up. Some of his good friends are playing the same instrument and I am hoping it is a wonderful experience for him.

Dominic is doing well in school. All straight A's and has been doing great at WANTING to do his homework. This has been a struggle for so long. He just wants to eat and play with his friends when he gets home. But this year, he has made it a priority to do his homework. This kid, guys, is growing up! WAY too fast.

Logan started soccer 2 weeks ago and he is loving it! Dominic practices with him and I know how much they enjoy it together, even though, Dom does get frustrated with Logan doesn't do what he needs to. It is adorable to watch. Since Logan is in the under 4 group, they are doing more skill sets than games. He had his picture done last week and I cannot wait to get them back!

After a lot of thought, we decided to skip gymnastics for Charlie this year. She is still super shy around larger groups. Hangs on my legs. Wants me to hold her. Next year we hope she wants to join in and start dance class. Because SERIOUSLY, what is cuter than a 3 year old little girl in a dance uniform jumping around? Or in a leotard on the balance beam? NOTHING! Plus I have a special place in my heart for dance. I did it when I was young. I was even on the pep dance squad for football.

Our family is adjusting. Getting into our fall groove. Anxiously awaiting all of the fun fall activities we have planned. All the while, we are missing the beach!

11 Random Facts about me!
1.  I'm a total spreadsheet a'holic! I have one for everything...color coded.
2.  To go along with #1, I am very structured, organized and am a bit ocd about a clean house. Now, that does not mean that my house is always spotless. I do have 3 kids and a dog! I just get very anxious when it is not up to mine and my husbands standards.
3.  I am married to an IT guy and it does come in handy!
4.  My ideal work/life balance would be to work part time so that I could spend quality time with my kids. I currently work 4 - 10 hour days. The days are long and the evenings always feel rushed.
5. I love cooking in the crock pot. The house smells amazing and dinner is ready when I am done working. Win, win!
6.  My favorite place is the beach but I do not like to swim in the ocean.
7.  Along with #6, I would love to go to Hawaii. This is Dom's dream vacation too, he already asks when we can go.
8.  My favorite team is the Steelers! This year is not looking good for them during the preseason. Lets hope it changes before the first game!
9.  I have already shrunk an inch and half since high school. I blame my back surgery!
10.  We have a plan on what needs done in this house to list it in 5 or so years. Our dream would be to build but all the plans have such small amounts of land. We keep going back and forth at adding on here compared to buying a new house.
11.  I am very afraid of heights.
